Looking Forward to Greenbuild 2009
This year's Greenbuild International Conference and Expo will be held November 11-13 in Phoenix. Perhaps the most anticipated building trade show of the year, special guests include former Vice President and Nobel Laureate, Al Gore, and singer Sheryl Crow. With headliners like these, attendance will surely exceed the 30,000 attendees of 2008--already an impressive number, considering the 13,500 who attended in 2006. The importance of sustainability efforts in building and design has garnered serious attention from homebuilders and consumers alike. However, major celebrities aren't the only reason to attend Greenbuild this year. Let's take a look at the top 6 "must see" exhibitors who will be demonstrating some of their sustainable products at Greenbuild this year:
1. DECRA Roofing Systems Inc.
DECRA has been a leader in sustainability for the past 50 years with its award-winning stone coated steel roofing system. From beautiful tiles to classic shingles, DECRA offers a variety of products for either commercial or residential construction. This innovative product provides the beauty of traditional roofing products coupled with the durability of steel, resulting in a truly superior roof. As Class A rated material, DECRA roofing is non-combustible, resistant to freeze/thaw conditions, termite-proof and weather-tight. For more information, stop by Booth #558 at Greenbuild or visit their Web site at www.decra.com.
2. SolarHot
Eco-conscious homeowners and homebuilders will be interested in this upstart company that specializes in solar heating systems. Established in 2005, SolarHot is a renewable energy manufacturing company based in North Carolina. The company offers a complete range of solar heating system products, including solar panels, mounting hardware, solar water heating storage tanks, and control systems. SolarHot was highly rated among freeze-protected solar hot water systems according to The Solar Rating & Certification Corporation (SRCC). Many consumers might not realize that using solar heating can reduce up to fifty percent of a home’s energy consumption, which includes energy used in doing laundry, washing dishes, and taking hot showers. SolarHot will be at Greenbuild booth #5019 and more information can be obtained from their Web site: www.solarhotusa.com.
3. Richlite
I know we've plugged this company before at West Coast Green, but this manufacturer offers a unique and interesting line of products created from paper! Kolbe & Kolbe offer a selection of windows and doors for a variety of construction projects, whether it be renovating a historic building or remodeling for eco-sustainability. A family-owned business that believes in manufacturing quality products, Kolbe & Kolbe takes pride in upholding green building practices. 5. Native Trails
Native Trails is a California-based manufacturer that creates handcrafted copper kitchen and bath products, including tubs, sinks, vanities and mirrors. Products are made out of recycled copper or reclaimed wood. Any homeowner seeking a distinctive look that will set their home apart should discover what Native Trails has to offer. 6. Parasoleil
This Colorado company offers recycled content panels created by artist Uriah Bueller. In 2006, Parasoleil won Colorado Garden & Home Show's Innovative Products showcase and in 2008 was awarded Best Custom Design & Installation by Office 4 Design. Parasoleil’s patterned copper shade panels add a creative element to any building project and exemplify the company’s slogan, "transforming the ordinary into the exceptional." The products are commonly used for both privacy and shade and can be used as canopies, fences, cladding, etc. Who says eco-friendly construction can't also be beautiful?
